Selective Hearing Isn't Just A Human Trait

My dog is 17 years old and pretty much deaf...or so I thought. I believe he has that same trait we women pin on many of the male species called selective hearing. Let me give you a few examples. He loves to lay on his favorite dog pillow in front of the TV and obnoxiously chew on his paws. I "tell" him to stop several times but it does not work. Once in awhile he will look at me out of the corner of his eye and continue to chew away. He also has this annoying habit of making his jaw chatter or quiver when he is watching me eat. Again I tell him to stop ( only works if I slip him a piece of whatever I am eating...he's no dummy ) but the jaw just keeps on going.

Here's where the selective hearing comes in...he will be sound asleep, or at least he appears to be out cold, in the other room. I will go into the pantry and shut the door. When I come out with a snack I have been waiting to eat in peace ( goes back to the jaw thing ) there he is waiting by the door. And yes, he is a male. Need I say anymore!

Just What Are Cats Thinking?

I don't know about you but there are times when I will be sitting in my favorite chair and I look over at my psycho cat and he is just sitting there staring at me. I'll make a comment such as "what?" ( like he is going to answer me ) and still no reaction or movement. He just continues to stare. What do you think is on his evil mind? Here's what I think...

"Let's just see how long it takes for this stupid human to attempt to make me stop. She should know by now that the more she freaks out and tells me to stop the longer I will do this. And if she puts me in the other room I will just start my "screaming for absolutely no reason" routine".

So what's in the mind of your cat or dog? The world wants to know.
